Rhenus Logistics Ireland acquires Avant Air and sea

The leading company of logistic services Rhenus Logistics Ireland has announced that it acquired the shipping company Avant Air and sea that specializes in pharmaceutical shipments, temperature-controlled shipments, and other types of shipments.

Since 1990, the Irish company has been a major provider of airfreight services as well as cross-border services for imports and exports. Although it has its headquarter located in Dublin, it also established offshoots in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

According to the Rhenus Group, the newly acquired company will be called Avant Rhenus and its mains tasks will consist of providing weekly consolidation and groupage freight services from the United States, China, and many other Asian and Oceanic countries.

Besides consolidation, Avant Rhenus will expand its services to cover AOG services for airfreight, express, hand carry, customs services, document preparation and insurance, Haulage and cargo transportation, etc.

IATA has published Practice guidelines that state that this Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) is a certified operator the Dangerous Goods (DG) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).

The Managing Director of Avant air and sea has expressed his enthusiasm about this deal stating that : ”We have found a customer-oriented partner in the Rhenus Group and it will enable us to continue developing our services for our existing and future customers due to its global network and its comprehensive expertise

For Rhenus Logistics, Jörn Schmersahl the Managing Director explains that the reason behind this is that : “Avant Air and Sea is a company with a strong focus on customer relations as well as providing important services for the air and sea freight sector and it will make an important contribution to the ongoing growth of the Rhenus Group. We are delighted to be able to continue developing the Rhenus business activities in Ireland together with Avant’’.

This deal will enable Rhenus to strengthen its presence in Ireland which has been the goal of the German company for a long time.
